About the Role

Our client, a prominent banking group headquartered in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal , is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Risk Manager specializing in Market Risk. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the identification, measurement, monitoring, and mitigation of market risks across the bank's trading and investment portfolios. You will play a key part in ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and internal risk policies, providing strategic insights to senior management to safeguard the bank's financial health. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust market risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures.


• Monitor and analyze market risk exposures, including interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and equity risk, across all relevant portfolios.


• Utilize advanced risk metrics and models (e.g., VaR, Stress Testing, Scenario Analysis) to quantify risk exposures and assess potential impacts.


• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Basel accords) and internal risk appetite statements.


• Collaborate with trading desks and business units to understand their risk profiles and provide guidance on risk mitigation strategies.


• Prepare comprehensive risk reports for senior management, the Board of Directors, and regulatory bodies.


• Investigate and report on significant risk events or breaches, recommending corrective actions.


• Stay informed about market developments and emerging risks that could impact the bank's exposure.

Requirements
