About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the telecoms industry, is seeking a highly skilled Senior RF Network Optimization Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein, Free State . This role is crucial for enhancing the performance, capacity, and quality of our client's mobile network. You will be responsible for analyzing network data, identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing strategies to improve user experience and network efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of RF principles, mobile network technologies (4G/LTE, 5G), and performance optimization tools. This is a hands-on role that requires strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. You will work closely with RF planning and operations teams to ensure the network meets the highest standards. This position is based at our client's offices in Bloemfontein , fostering strong team collaboration and direct engagement with network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze RF network performance data (e.g., KPIs, drive test data, user complaints) to identify areas for improvement in coverage, capacity, and quality.
• Develop and implement detailed optimization plans for 4G/LTE and 5G radio networks.
• Perform parameter tuning, neighbor list optimization, and interference mitigation strategies.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and report on network optimization efforts and outcomes.
• Utilize specialized RF optimization tools and software to diagnose and resolve network issues.
• Collaborate with RF planning and engineering teams on new site integration and performance validation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve RF-related issues impacting customer experience.
• Stay updated on the latest RF technologies, optimization techniques, and industry best practices.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on RF optimization matters.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in RF network optimization for mobile networks (4G/LTE and 5G).
• Proficiency with RF optimization tools such as Atoll, Planet, Nemo, TEMS, or similar.
• Strong understanding of RF principles, propagation models, antenna theory, and interference management.
• Experience with key performance indicators (KPIs) and their analysis for mobile networks.
• Ability to interpret drive test data and conduct root cause analysis of RF issues.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience working within the South African telecoms market, particularly in the Free State , is beneficial.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
