Placements24 is seeking a Senior RF Network Optimization Engineer for a leading telecom operator in Polokwane. The role focuses on optimizing RF network performance, capacity and quality across 2G/3G/4G/5G, with a hybrid work model blending on-site and remote.

You will analyze performance data, develop optimization strategies, conduct drive testing, plan cells, tune parameters, and collaborate with deployment and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering or related field.
• Min 5 years in RF planning, design or optimization.
• Knowledge of GSM, UMTS, LTE, NR and propagation models.
• Experience with RF data analysis and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with RF planning tools: Atoll, Planet, TEMS.
• Strong KPI understanding and network performance metrics.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent telecommunications network operator in Polokwane , is looking for a highly analytical and experienced Senior RF Network Optimization Engineer. This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance, capacity, and quality of the company's radio frequency (RF) network. You will be responsible for analyzing network performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance user experience and network efficiency. This position offers a Hybrid working model, allowing for a blend of on-site work at our Polokwane office and remote flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze RF network performance data (coverage, capacity, quality, interference) to identify trends and anomalies.
• Develop and implement optimization strategies for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks to improve key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Conduct drive testing and post-processing analysis to evaluate network performance and identify areas requiring improvement.
• Perform cell planning, site selection, and parameter tuning to optimize RF coverage and capacity.
• Collaborate with network deployment and operations teams to ensure effective implementation of optimization recommendations.
• Stay updated with the latest RF technologies, trends, and optimization techniques.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations on network performance and optimization initiatives.
• Troubleshoot complex RF issues and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in RF network planning, design, or optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of RF principles, mobile network technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE, NR), and propagation models.
• Proficiency with RF planning and optimization tools (e.g., Atoll, Planet, TEMS).
• Experience with RF data analysis and reporting tools.
• Strong understanding of KPIs and network performance metrics.
