Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Drive Strategy: develop and manage annual, seasonal, and monthly merchandise plans to hit sales, margin, and inventory targets.
• Optimise Inventory: manage stock investment to maximise stock turn and minimise excess inventory.
• Analyse Performance: translate data into actionable insights and present strategic recommendations to management.
• Collaborate: partner with Buying, Retail Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain for total business alignment.
• Lead & Develop: mentor Junior Planners and promote continuous improvement.

Job Description

We are looking for a commercially astute and highly analytical Senior Retail Planner to join aleading lifestyle retailer.You will play a pivotal role in optimising sales, profitability, and inventory productivity by driving data-backed strategies. Reporting to the Head of Planning, this role is suited to someone who is methodical, analytical, and confident working with data to support operational and commercial decisions.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure resources are allocated effectively, stock levels are managed accurately, and planning systems are maintained. If you’re someone who values structure, clarity, and meaningful contribution, this is a great opportunity to explore.

What you will do:

• Drive Strategy: Develop and manage annual, seasonal, and monthly merchandise plans to hit key sales, margin, and inventory targets.
  
• Optimise Inventory: Manage stock investment across categories, ensuring the right products are available at the right time. You will be responsible for maximising stock turn and minimising excess inventory.
  
• Analyse Performance: Translate complex data into actionable business insights. You will monitor trading performance, identify risks/opportunities, and present strategic recommendations to management.
  
• Collaborate: Partner closely with Buying, Retail Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams to ensure total business alignment.
  
• Lead & Develop: Provide guidance to Junior Planners, fostering a team culture of continuous improvement and best-practice sharing.
  

Requirements

What you bring:

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years in merchandise or retail planning.
  
• Education: A relevant degree (Commerce, Retail Management, Supply Chain, Statistics, or Economics).
  
• Technical Skill: Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency is essential. Experience with merchandise planning systems is highly advantageous.
