Placements24 seeks an experienced Residential Design Architect for a prestigious Pietermaritzburg studio, focusing on high-end private residences, townhouses, and small residential estates. You will lead designs from concept to detailed construction drawings and collaborate with builders and engineers to realise imagined spaces.

The ideal candidate holds a B.Arch or M.Arch with SACAP registration and 6+ years of residential design experience, with a strong portfolio and proficiency in Revit,

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) and SACAP registration.
• Minimum of 6 years post-qualification residential design experience.
• A portfolio showcasing a range of high-quality bespoke residential projects.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling/rendering programs (e.g., SketchUp, Lumion).
• Knowledge of residential construction techniques, materials, and detailing.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design process for bespoke residential projects from concept development to detailed construction drawings.
• Engage with clients to understand lifestyle, preferences, and budget, translating these into architectural designs.
• Develop innovative floor plans, elevations, and 3D models for residences.
• Prepare detailed specifications and documentation for planning applications and construction.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, M&E consultants, and other specialists throughout the design process.
• Ensure designs comply with building regulations, zoning laws, and aesthetic standards in Pietermaritzburg.
• Conduct site visits to oversee design implementation during construction.
• Maintain project timelines and budgets for assigned residential projects.
• Stay abreast of current trends in residential design, materials, and sustainable building practices.
• Foster a collaborative and client-focused approach within the design team.
