Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to optimize the performance and longevity of solar thermal reservoirs in Upington, Northern Cape. The role requires leading subsurface data analysis, thermal properties assessment, and advanced reservoir modeling in a multidisciplinary team with geologists, geophysicists, and project managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive reservoir engineering experience with emphasis on geothermal or thermal energy storage systems.
• Proven expertise in reservoir simulation software (Eclipse, TOUGH2, STOMP).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and subsurface geology.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive reservoir characterization studies using geological, geophysical, and engineering data.
• Develop and implement advanced reservoir simulation models to predict performance and optimize extraction strategies.
• Analyze well performance data and implement remediation plans to enhance production and minimize downtime.
• Design and oversee field development plans, including well placement and injection/production strategies.
• Monitor and manage reservoir pressures, temperatures, and fluid properties to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Collaborate with R&D on new reservoir technologies.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and management recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Analyze the impact of subsurface conditions on solar energy capture efficiency and storage capacity.
