Placements24 is seeking a Senior Live Event Technical Director to oversee the technical execution of large-scale live events in a remote-first setup. You will manage audio, video, lighting, staging, and IT, lead technical teams, and partner with clients to deliver outstanding experiences.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8+ years of progressive experience, with strong budget, vendor, and safety leadership across high-profile events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Theatre Technology, Broadcast Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in technical direction and production management.
• Extensive knowledge of AV systems, lighting, staging, rigging, and broadcast tech.
• Proven budget management for complex events.
• Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.
• Experience with project management software and remote collaboration tools.
• Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced live environments.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for live events.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and critical phases.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all technical aspects of live events—audio, video, lighting, staging, IT.
• Develop technical production plans, budgets, and timelines with managers/clients.
• Source and manage relationships with technical vendors and suppliers.
• Lead on-site crews and ensure safe, efficient operations.
• Troubleshoot issues during live events quickly and effectively.
• Ensure seamless integration meeting client and artistic requirements.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments for venues.
• Manage technical inventory and equipment logistics.
• Stay current with emerging tech and best practices in live production.
• Develop and implement technical safety protocols.
