Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is recruiting a Senior Facilities Hygiene Manager to lead remote sanitation programs across facilities. You will design and enforce hygiene SOPs, audit performance, and manage remote teams to ensure top sanitation standards while coordinating with cross-functional partners.

The role requires deep knowledge of health regulations, strong leadership, and data-driven decision-making, all within a fully remote setup based near Johannesburg, Gauteng.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in facilities management, hygiene, or related field with at least 2 years in supervision.
• Experience developing and implementing hygiene programs, preferably remote/distributed.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental sanitation principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and ability to manage a remote workforce.
• Proficiency with digital tools for project management, communication, and reporting.
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Hospitality Management, or Facility Management preferred.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven sanitation decisions.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor hygiene and sanitation SOPs for a diverse facilities portfolio.
• Conduct remote audits and assessments of cleaning performance and quality.
• Manage and train remote cleaning teams with clear guidance and evaluations.
• Oversee procurement and use of cleaning supplies, equipment, and technologies.
• Investigate hygiene issues and customer complaints promptly and professionally.
• Stay updated on sanitation industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hygiene into facility plans.
• Prepare detailed hygiene performance and incident reports for senior leadership.
