Job summary

Kontak Recruitment seeks a General Manager for a quarry operation in Brits. The role demands senior site leadership over production, maintenance, safety, environmental compliance and staff management to deliver profitability and compliant operations.

The successful candidate will drive production targets, manage budgets, optimize costs, and ensure operational plans align with safety and regulatory requirements on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years quarry or related mining experience.
• Experience managing budgets and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in extraction, drilling, blasting, crushing, screening, stockpile management.
• Strong knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and OHSA.
• Willing to work at quarry site, overtime or weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for day-to-day management, profitability and safety of the quarry.
• Develop and implement operational plans, production schedules and resource requirements.
• Oversee extraction, drilling and blasting, crushing, screening, stockpile management and dispatch.
• Monitor production output, downtime, equipment utilisation and labour productivity; take corrective action.
• Ensure compliance with MHSA, OHSA and environmental permits and company policies.
• Lead the quarry workforce and manage staffing, performance reviews and contractor coordination.
