Job summary

Goldman Tech Resourcing is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Pretoria East based construction team. You will take full commercial responsibility across multiple projects, guiding project teams, managing budgets, and ensuring profitability from award through final account.

Requirements include a National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, 8+ years in construction, JBCC/NEC familiarity, and CCS/Candy certification.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• National Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying
• Minimum 8 years' experience in construction with strong commercial, contractual, and financial management exposure
• CCS/Candy certification and JBCC/NEC contract training
• Experience in subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and commercial negotiations
• Proficiency in interim valuations, variation orders, EOT claims, and final account settlements
• Strong numeracy, financial management, and negotiation skills
• Ability to mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors and guide project teams

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial/financial performance of multiple construction projects from award to final account
• Control project costs, budgets, cash flow forecasts and monthly cost reporting
• Procure, appoint and manage subcontractors, suppliers and material purchases
• Prepare interim valuations, variation orders, payment certificates and final accounts
• Administer JBCC and NEC contracts, claims and extensions of time
• Prepare monthly cost reports, forecasts and MIS for stakeholders
• Liaise with clients, consultants, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors on commercial matters
• Provide cost control, procurement and commercial guidance to project teams
• Identify and manage commercial risks and ensure compliance with procedures and regulations
• Mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors and contribute to process improvements

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client's established construction team in Pretoria East. This role offers the opportunity to take full commercial and financial responsibility for multiple construction projects from award through to final account, while providing commercial guidance to project teams and mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the commercial and financial performance of multiple construction projects from award through to final account settlement.
• Control project costs, budgets, cash flow forecasts, profitability, and monthly cost reporting.
• Procure, appoint, and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and material purchases.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations, variation orders, payment certificates, and final accounts.
• Administer contractual matters, including JBCC and NEC contracts, claims, and extensions of time (EOTs).
• Prepare accurate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and management information for project stakeholders.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors on commercial and contractual matters.
• Provide cost control, procurement, and commercial advice to project teams to ensure projects are delivered within budget and programme requirements.
• Identify and manage commercial risks while ensuring compliance with company procedures, reporting requirements, and industry regulations.
• Provide technical support, mentorship, and guidance to Junior Quantity Surveyors and contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes.

Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years' experience in the construction industry, with strong commercial, contractual, and financial management exposure.
• CCS/Candy certification.
• JBCC and NEC contract training.
• Experience in subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and commercial negotiations.
• Strong experience in interim valuations, variation orders, EOT claims, and final account settlements.
• Proven ability to manage project budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost reports, and profitability reporting.
• Proficiency in CCS/Candy, BuildSmart, and quantity surveying software systems.
• Thorough understanding of JBCC and NEC construction contracts.
• SACQSP registration will be advantageous.
• Strong numeracy, financial management, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to mentor Junior Quantity Surveyors and provide commercial guidance to project teams.
