Job summary

Hire Resolve, a diversified South African financial services group, seeks a Software Tester to provide independent testing within the IT Development team. The role ensures platform changes meet specifications before production release in Johannesburg or Cape Town.

You will design test cases, perform data and API verification, log defects, support UAT, and contribute to automation under CTO guidance. Relevant SDLC, Agile/Scrum, SQL, Postman, and POPIA/FAIS awareness are essential.

Qualifications

• Essential: Matric/National Senior Certificate plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar.
• Preferred: ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (to be obtained within 12 months)
• Advantageous: ISTQB Agile Tester extension or formal SQL/automation certifications.
• Core Experience: 5+ years of hands-on software testing in a structured SDLC with test case design and regression suites.
• Technical Competencies: experience with test management/defect-tracking tools, SQL (SELECT, joins, aggregates), and API testing via Postman.
• Environment: Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Domain: financial services platforms and exposure to test automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Test design and execution across functional, integration, regression, cross-browser, and usability testing.
• Write SQL queries for backend data validation and test REST APIs with Postman.
• Log defects with clear steps, severity, and priority; drive retesting and closure.
• Prepare test summary packs and ensure traceability from requirements to defects; advise on release readiness.
• Create de-identified or synthetic test data per POPIA; assist and guide user UAT.
• Develop and maintain automated checks for high-value regressions under CTO guidance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and help standardize testing practices across teams.
