Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a meticulous Senior QA Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will develop and execute test strategies for web and mobile apps, wield automation tools, and ensure high-quality software delivery.

Collaborate with developers and product managers, perform regression and UAT, mentor juniors, and stay abreast of QA trends. This role offers flexible hours, comprehensive benefits, and a chance to impact product quality from anywhere in SA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and software testing.
• Proven experience in designing and executing test plans and test cases.
• Hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright).
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) for test automation.
• Experience with API testing tools (e.g., Postman, Insomnia).
• Strong understanding of QA methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
• Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a remote team environment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive QA strategies, test plans, and test cases for web and mobile applications.
• Execute manual and automated tests to identify software defects and ensure adherence to requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using appropriate frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Appium).
• Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand software requirements and quality standards.
• Perform regression testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Clearly document and report defects, including steps to reproduce, severity, and impact.
• Verify bug fixes and ensure that resolved issues do not introduce new problems.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes and methodologies.
• Mentor junior QA team members and share knowledge on testing best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest QA tools, technologies, and trends.
