Placements24 in George, Western Cape seeks a Property Law Specialist to support a busy portfolio of property transactions and advisory work. You will handle conveyancing, sectional title matters, zoning and land use, ensuring all transactions comply with South African law.

Based in our George office, you will draft and review agreements, perform due diligence, supervise transfer registrations, and liaise with external counsel, banks and authorities.

Qualifications

• Admitted Conveyancer and Notary Public with 7+ years post-qualification experience.
• Expertise in South African property law and conveyancing practice.
• Experience drafting complex property agreements and conducting due diligence.
• Strong understanding of sectional title schemes, HOA and commercial leases.
• Excellent negotiation and client management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple complex transactions under pressure.
• Proficiency with conveyancing software and legal databases.
• Clear, effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Solid grasp of property market dynamics in George and the Western Cape.
• Commitment to high ethical and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on property law, including conveyancing, sectional title, zoning, and land use.
• Draft, review, and negotiate property sale and lease agreements, and development contracts.
• Conduct thorough due diligence on acquisitions and developments.
• Oversee registration of transfer of ownership for various property types.
• Advise on compliance with the Sectional Titles Act and related legislation.
• Liaise with external counsel, government authorities, and financial institutions.
• Manage property disputes and litigation when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with all legal/regulatory requirements for SA property transactions.
• Stay updated on changes in property law and advise the firm and clients accordingly.
• Assist with legal structuring of property investment and development projects.
