Job summary

Marvel Placement Consultants seeks an experienced Senior Planner to lead planning and scheduling on multi-discipline projects in South Africa. You will drive integrated master schedules, monitor baselines, and lead recovery plans with Primavera P6, EVM and strong stakeholder engagement.

The role requires a relevant degree and 6–10 years in planning, plus willingness to travel to project sites nationwide for high-value projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a built-environment discipline.
6–10 years' progressive experience in project planning and scheduling, including 3+ years in senior/lead roles.
Experience on complex, high-value projects, preferably >R100 million.
Expert proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource leveling and cost-loaded schedules.
Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling and controls.
Experience developing integrated master schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out.
Experience with resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules.
Strong knowledge of critical path analysis, schedule risk, recovery and progress tracking.
Experience with delay analysis methods (TIA, IAP, CAB, APAB, Windows Analysis).
Experience with EOT and contractual matters; EVM knowledge.
Knowledge of NEC3/4, FIDIC, JBCC, GCC forms.
Experience leading multi-discipline teams; mentoring juniors.
Advanced Excel and Office skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to work under pressure.
Valid driver's license; willingness to travel to project sites nationally.

Responsibilities

Lead the planning and scheduling function across assigned projects.
Develop, implement and maintain integrated project programmes and master schedules.
Develop schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out activities.
Develop and maintain resource-loaded and cost-loaded schedules.
Update and maintain project programmes using Primavera P6.
Monitor actual project progress against baselines and identify schedule deviations, delays and critical path impacts.
Perform critical path analysis and provide recommendations for programme recovery.
Prepare and maintain short-, medium- and long-term project schedules.
Track project milestones, key deliverables and contractual deadlines.
Monitor labour, equipment, materials and subcontractor requirements against project programmes.
Integrate schedules across multiple disciplines, contractors and project interfaces.
Review and monitor contractor, subcontractor and supplier programmes.
Compile weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards and schedule updates.
Monitor and report on project controls and Earned Value Management (EVM) performance.
Identify potential schedule risks and assist with mitigation and recovery plans.
Conduct delay analyses using methodologies such as TIA, IAP, CAB, APAB and Windows Analysis.
Assist with EOT and prolongation claims management.
Review contractor time-related claims and ensure contractual compliance.
Coordinate planning information with Project Managers, Engineers and Commercial Teams.
Develop and manage integrated procurement and design schedules with long-lead items.
Lead, mentor and provide guidance to junior planners.
Conduct schedule reviews, programme audits and quality checks.
Attend and lead project planning, progress and schedule alignment meetings.
Provide guidance on schedule risk, critical path exposure and forecast completion dates.
Maintain project planning documentation and progress records.
Support tenders, proposals and business development with planning input.
Ensure alignment with project objectives and client requirements.
