Job summary

Hire Resolve's client is seeking a Senior Project Planner for a mining company based in Gauteng. You will develop, maintain and analyse integrated project schedules, providing schedule oversight and supporting project managers with planning, forecasting and risk management across capital projects.

Responsibilities include developing schedules from initiation to close-out, maintaining baselines, and coordinating with contractors for timely updates.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Project Management/Engineering required.
• PMP or PMI-SP certification preferred.
• 5-10 years' experience as a Project Planner in mining/heavy industry.
• Proficient in Primavera P6 or MS Project and Excel.
• PMO experience with planning coordination and oversight.
• Valid driving license required.

Responsibilities

• Develop fit-for-purpose project schedules from initiation through close-out.
• Convert project scope into structured work breakdown structures, activity lists, logic networks, milestones, calendars and baselines.
• Maintain detailed schedules with changes, progress, forecasts and dependencies.
• Prepare basis of schedule with assumptions, constraints and interfaces.
• Perform schedule integrity checks: logic, paths, float, calendars and forecasts.
• Establish and maintain scheduling standards and update disciplines.
• Review contractor schedules and incorporate updates into integrated schedules.
• Provide senior planning oversight on EPCM-managed projects.
• Coordinate with contractors/consultants for timely and evidence-based updates.
• Engage project managers to facilitate updates, validate forecasts and close gaps.

Hire Resolve's Client is currently looking for an experienced Senior Project Planner to join their mining company based in Gauteng. You will be responsible for developing, maintaining and analysing integrated project schedules, providing schedule oversight and supporting project managers with planning, forecasting, risk and recovery planning across capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop fit-for-purpose project schedules from initiation through close-out, aligned with approved scope, execution strategy and key deliverables.
• Facilitate planning workshops and convert project scope into structured work breakdown structures, activity lists, logic networks, milestones, calendars, resources and baseline schedules.
• Maintain detailed schedules and ensure approved changes, actual progress, remaining durations, forecasts and dependencies are accurately reflected.
• Prepare and maintain the basis of schedule, including planning assumptions, constraints, interfaces and update protocols.
• Perform regular schedule integrity and quality checks, including logic, open ends, constraints, critical path, float, calendars, progress status and forecast credibility.
• Establish and maintain consistent planning standards, coding structures, progress rules and schedule update disciplines.
• Review contractor and consultant schedules, interrogate variances and incorporate reliable updates into integrated project schedules
• Provide senior planning oversight and quality assurance on EPCM-managed projects.
• Coordinate with contractors and consultants to obtain complete, timely and evidence-based schedule updates.
• Engage project managers and project leads to facilitate updates, confirm progress, validate forecasts and close information gaps.

Requirements

• Grade 12
• Degree or Diploma in Project Management/Engineering or equivalent
• PMP/PMI-SP or an equivalent project controls or planning certification
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience as a Project Planner withinmining, mineral processing, heavy industrial or infrastructure projects
• Proficient in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project and Excel
• Experience within a Project Management Office (PMO) environment, including coordination and oversight of project planning activities
• Experience with project cost and schedule integration, progress tracking, resource planning and performance monitoring.
• Valid Driver's License
