About the Role

Our client, a prominent developer focused on enhancing the tourism and hospitality sector, is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee new developments and expansions in the scenic George, Western Cape. This role is pivotal in managing the successful execution of hotel constructions, resort upgrades, and related infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management within the hospitality or construction industry, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including investors, contractors, and local authorities. Based in George, Western Cape, this position requires a hands-on approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality projects that elevate the region's tourism appeal.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of tourism and hospitality development projects.
• Define project scope, objectives, budgets, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Manage all phases of construction, from site acquisition and design development to building and interior fit-out.
• Oversee and manage contractors, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and timelines.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor project status and resolve issues.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, zoning laws, and hospitality standards.
• Manage project finances, track expenditures, and ensure projects remain within budget.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders, including investors, government bodies, and community representatives.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports, financial updates, and risk assessments.
• Ensure successful project handover and completion, including all necessary documentation and operational readiness.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of project management experience, with a significant focus on construction or development projects in the hospitality sector.
• Proven experience managing projects in George, Western Cape, or a similar tourist destination.
• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as PMP or a Construction Management certification is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, project scheduling, and cost control.
• Experience with contract management and negotiation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
