Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead IT infrastructure projects, including planning, procurement, execution, and handover, across network upgrades, server deployments, and cloud migrations.

You will manage internal IT staff and external vendors, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and strong security compliance in a hybrid work setup based in Vereeniging, Gauteng.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in IT project management with focus on infrastructure deployment.
• Proven delivery of network modernization, data center consolidation, or cloud adoption.
• Strong knowledge of servers, storage, networking, virtualization and cloud tech.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies; familiar with MS Project and Jira.
• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering; ITIL, PMP or equivalent certifications desirable.

About the Role

Our client, a leading entity in the manufacturing sector, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and execute critical IT infrastructure projects. This role is essential for upgrading and maintaining our client's technological backbone, ensuring robust performance and security. You will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle, from planning and procurement to implementation and handover. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IT infrastructure projects, strong technical acumen, and exceptional leadership skills. This role, based in Vereeniging, Gauteng , offers a challenging yet rewarding environment to drive technological advancements for our client.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT infrastructure projects, including network upgrades, server deployments, and cloud migrations. Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements. Manage project teams, including internal IT staff, external vendors, and contractors, ensuring efficient collaboration. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing effective contingency plans. Oversee vendor selection and contract management for IT infrastructure solutions and services. Monitor project progress, performance, and budget adherence, providing regular status updates to stakeholders. Ensure all IT infrastructure projects comply with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Facilitate effective communication among project team members and business stakeholders.

Requirements

A minimum of 8 years of experience in IT project management, with a strong focus on infrastructure deployment and management. Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT infrastructure projects, such as network modernization, data center consolidation, or cloud adoption. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure). Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (MS Project, Jira). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. ITIL, PMP, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable. Experience working within the Gauteng industrial landscape is an advantage.
