About the Role

Our client, a major player in the civil infrastructure development sector, is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager . This is a site-based role critical to the successful delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for the overall planning, management, execution, and closing of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This requires exceptional leadership, a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, and the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders. We are looking for a seasoned professional with a proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion, demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills and a commitment to safety and quality. The position is located in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA , and requires full-time presence on-site or at project-related offices.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of the project lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and handover.
• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Manage project execution, closely monitoring progress, identifying potential risks, and implementing mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, and site staff.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards on all project sites.
• Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost control measures effectively.
• Liaise with clients, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met and to resolve any issues that may arise.
• Review and approve project documentation, including designs, reports, and contractual agreements.
• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction quality and compliance with specifications.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• A Master's degree or PMP certification is advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management within the civil infrastructure sector.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale projects such as roads, bridges, water treatment plants, or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and project management best practices.
• Strong understanding of contract management, risk assessment, and financial control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and drive project success.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and relevant engineering software.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the vicinity of Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA .
