Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Project Manager for a leading construction and engineering firm. This fully remote role enables you to oversee a diverse civil project portfolio from anywhere in South Africa, delivering on time, within budget, and to exacting quality standards.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage large budgets (over R50 million projects), ensure HSE compliance, and maintain strong client and stakeholder communications in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• 10+ years of progressive project management experience in civil construction.
• Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities).
• Knowledge of MS Project or Primavera and contract management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of civil construction projects from planning to closeout.
• Develop plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.

About the Role

Our client, a prominent construction and engineering firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and oversee a portfolio of diverse civil construction projects. This role is exclusively remote, providing you with the flexibility to manage projects from any location within South Africa. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle, from planning and execution to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a critical role requiring strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional organizational skills. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of civil construction projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Lead and motivate project teams, including engineers, site supervisors, and subcontractors.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
• Manage client relationships, stakeholder communications, and contractual obligations.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and develop contingency plans.
• Monitor project progress, performance, and financial status, reporting key metrics regularly.
• Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Resolve conflicts and address issues that arise during project execution.
• Ensure all project documentation is maintained accurately and efficiently.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) or SACPCMP (Pr CM) is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management for civil construction projects.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, utilities).
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), and contract management.
• Proven ability to manage budgets exceeding R50 million.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects remotely and foster a cohesive virtual team environment.
• Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
