Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to oversee capital projects within processing facilities in Soweto, Gauteng. You will drive projects from inception through commissioning, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and adherence to budget and technical standards.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contractors, and implement robust HSEQ practices to enable operational excellence and innovation in the mining sector.

Qualifications

• BEng or BSc in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr Eng) is essential.
• 8–12 years of experience in project engineering and management in mining processing or heavy industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closeout of capital projects in mining processing plants.
• Develop project scope, objectives, detailed project plans, and budgets.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables effectively.
• Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, process).
• Oversee contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality of work and adherence to contract terms.
• Implement robust health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) management systems.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
• Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders, including site operations, management, and external parties.
• Manage project documentation, including design reviews, progress reports, and final handover documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings within project execution.
