Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to optimize hydrocarbon production from mature assets. The role is remote but closely supports operations near Queenstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa.

You will analyze data, diagnose issues, implement lift systems, and work with field staff to hit targets. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in oil and gas, a Bachelor’s in Petroleum Engineering, and strong experience in production optimization and reservoir dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Optimize production rates and facility performance across wells.
• Design, implement and manage artificial lift systems (ESP, gas lift, rod pump).
• Diagnose production issues, wellbore problems and equipment failures.
• Conduct decline analysis and forecast future output.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers on development and EOR plans.
• Provide technical support to field teams while ensuring safety and environmental standards near Queenstown.

About the Role

Our client, an established entity in the Oil & Gas sector , is seeking a highly skilled Senior Production Engineer to contribute to optimizing production from their mature assets, working remotely but closely supporting operations near Queenstown, Eastern Cape . This role focuses on maximizing hydrocarbon recovery, improving operational efficiency, and managing production facilities. You will analyze production data, diagnose operational issues, implement artificial lift systems, and work collaboratively with reservoir engineers and field staff to achieve production targets. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to leverage their expertise in a key role with flexibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize production rates and facility performance across multiple wells and fields.
• Design, implement, and manage artificial lift systems (e.g., ESPs, gas lift, rod pumps).
• Diagnose and resolve production-related problems, including wellbore issues and equipment failures.
• Conduct production decline analysis and forecast future production performance.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers on development plans and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategies.
• Provide technical support to field operations teams and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards in operations supporting Queenstown .

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in production engineering within the Oil & Gas industry .
