Placements24 is seeking a Senior Production Chemist for our client in Upington to optimize oil and gas production chemistry. You will analyze production samples, develop treatment programs, and troubleshoot process chemistry issues.

The role requires a strong background in analytical chemistry, experience with corrosion inhibition, scale control, and flow assurance. A bachelor’s degree is required with 7+ years in the field; master’s preferred.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Master’s preferred.
7+ years of experience as a Production Chemist or similar in oil & gas.
Strong knowledge of analytical techniques and production chemistry principles.
Experience with corrosion inhibition, scale control, emulsion breaking, and flow assurance.

Responsibilities

Analyze production fluids (oil, gas, water) to determine composition and identify scaling, corrosion, or emulsion issues.
Develop, implement, and monitor chemical treatment programs for production facilities.
Troubleshoot and resolve chemical-related problems affecting production efficiency and equipment integrity.
Conduct laboratory testing and research on new chemical solutions and technologies.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to chemical usage and disposal.
Collaborate with production engineers and field staff to optimize chemical performance and reduce costs.
