Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Production Chemist to join their team supporting oil and gas production facilities in Port Elizabeth. The role focuses on ensuring optimal chemical performance, managing water treatment, and troubleshooting chemistry issues to maintain asset integrity and production efficiency.

You will analyze production fluids, recommend chemical treatments, monitor inhibitor performance, and document results while working in a field environment across the Eastern Cape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Production Chemist in oil and gas.
• Strong understanding of production chemistry: corrosion, scale, emulsions.
• Proficiency in laboratory analysis techniques and result interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze production fluids to determine composition and issues.
• Recommend and implement chemical treatments for facilities.
• Monitor performance of inhibitors and demulsifiers.

About the Role

This role focuses on ensuring optimal chemical performance in production processes, managing water treatment, and troubleshooting operational chemistry issues. You will be responsible for analyzing fluid samples, recommending chemical treatments, and monitoring their effectiveness to maintain asset integrity and production efficiency. This is a hands-on role within the Eastern Cape's energy sector , offering a vital contribution to the smooth running of production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze production fluids (oil, water, gas) to determine chemical composition and identify potential issues.
• Recommend and implement appropriate chemical treatment programs for production facilities.
• Monitor the performance of scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, demulsifiers, and other production chemicals.
• Conduct water quality analysis and manage water treatment processes for injection or disposal.
• Troubleshoot operational chemistry problems and provide timely technical solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, performance monitoring, and laboratory analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.
• Strong understanding of production chemistry principles, including corrosion, scale, and emulsion management.
• Proficiency in laboratory analysis techniques and interpretation of results.
