Placements24 is seeking a Production Chemist for its client in Welkom, a city known for deep-level mining and growing resource sectors. The role focuses on optimizing chemical processes in Oil & Gas facilities, ensuring efficient separation, treatment, and quality control of produced fluids.

You will troubleshoot chemical issues, implement new solutions, and ensure environmental compliance while supporting field operators and production chemists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience as a Production Chemist or similar in Oil & Gas.
• Strong understanding of oilfield chemistry, including inhibitors and demulsifiers.
• Experience with lab analysis and data interpretation.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze produced oil, gas, and water samples to monitor quality.
• Develop and implement chemical treatment programs for scale and corrosion.
• Optimize chemical injection strategies and monitor effectiveness.
• Provide technical support to production chemists and field operators.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations on chemical use and disposal.
• Research new chemical technologies for the Welkom area.

This role focuses on optimizing chemical processes within Oil & Gas production facilities, ensuring efficient separation, treatment, and quality control of produced fluids. You will be responsible for troubleshooting chemical-related issues, implementing new chemical solutions, and ensuring environmental compliance. This position is crucial for maintaining operational efficiency and product integrity, offering a chance to make a tangible impact in the Free State .

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze produced oil, gas, and water samples to monitor quality and identify operational issues.
• Develop and implement chemical treatment programs to address challenges like scale, corrosion, and emulsion.
• Optimize chemical injection strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for production chemists and field operators.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding chemical usage and disposal.
• Conduct research on new chemical technologies applicable to Oil & Gas production in the Welkom area.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
• At least 5 years of experience as a Production Chemist or in a similar role within the Oil & Gas industry .
• Strong understanding of oilfield chemistry, including scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, and demulsifiers.
