Lever, Inc. is partnering to hire a Senior Product Design Engineer based in South Africa. You will own core product surfaces end-to-end, combining product design judgment with design engineering to produce production-ready components.

You will work at the intersection of product design, frontend engineering, and design systems, building reusable primitives and contributing to an open-source component library in a remote-first, async environment.

Formación

• Proven experience as a product designer who has evolved into design engineering, owning complex areas from problem definition through launch and iteration.
• Exceptional product design craft with strong frontend engineering in HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and React.
• Ability to independently turn concepts into polished, production-ready implementations.
• Experience designing and engineering custom UI components and primitives.
• Deep expertise in headless primitive composition and design systems.
• Strong accessibility knowledge: WCAG, ARIA, keyboard interactions.

Responsabilidades

• Own core product surfaces from concept through production, including booking flows and scheduling primitives.
• Translate problems into high-quality designs, prototypes, and production-ready frontend components.
• Build and test prototypes using AI-assisted tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and v0.
• Deliver components that engineers can use directly with correct semantics and interactions.
• Design, engineer, and maintain custom components and primitives beyond generic libraries.
• Improve the shared component library by auditing primitives and refining patterns.
• Maintain consistency across tokens, spacing, states, dark mode, motion, and interaction patterns.
• Apply motion thoughtfully to clarify interactions without added complexity.
• Own outcomes by framing hypotheses, defining success criteria, and evaluating results.
• Maintain high accessibility standards across all work, including keyboard navigation and focus management.
