Placements24 is seeking a Senior Procurement Manager specializing in Technology Procurement to lead sourcing of IT hardware, software, cloud services, and telecommunications from anywhere in South Africa.

You will drive end-to-end procurement, negotiate with major vendors, manage budgets, mentor the team, and align procurement with the company’s technology roadmap while working fully remotely.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in IT hardware, software and services procurement.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale technology procurement projects and complex vendor contracts.
• Extensive experience negotiating with major technology vendors and understanding complex licensing models.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for technology procurements including hardware, software, SaaS, cloud services and IT consulting.
• Lead complex negotiations with major technology vendors to secure favorable pricing, licensing terms, and SLAs.
• Manage end-to-end procurement processes for technology projects, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key technology suppliers and partners.
• Conduct market analysis to identify emerging technologies, cost-saving opportunities, and risks in the technology landscape.
• Collaborate with IT leadership, legal and finance to ensure procurement strategies meet requirements and compliance.
• Develop and manage technology procurement budgets, track spend and report KPIs.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, technology trends and regulatory changes affecting IT procurement.
• Mentor junior procurement team members in technology sourcing.

About the Role

Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 5 years specifically focused on IT hardware, software, and services procurement.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale technology procurement projects and complex vendor contracts.
• Extensive experience in negotiating with major technology vendors and understanding complex licensing models.
• Strong understanding of current IT trends, cloud computing, SaaS models, and cybersecurity considerations.
• Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems, preferably with IT asset management capabilities.
• A relevant Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment, managing time and tasks effectively.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in managing significant technology budgets.
