Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our fully remote team. You will lead PHAs, develop PSM programs, and ensure regulatory compliance across chemical process design and operations.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in process safety within chemical/petrochemical industries, strong collaboration skills for remote teams, and a track record of delivering safety improvements and trainings.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years in process safety engineering within chemical/petrochemical industries.
• Bachelor's or Master's in Chemical Engineering or related safety field.
• Knowledge of PSM elements, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
• Experience with SIL assessments and functional safety.
• Familiarity with OSHA and NFPA standards.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join their fully remote team. This critical role will ensure the highest standards of safety are integrated into all aspects of chemical process design and operation. You will be responsible for conducting rigorous safety assessments, developing risk mitigation strategies, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the organization. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of process safety management principles and can effectively collaborate with diverse, remote engineering teams to maintain a safe working environment, regardless of physical location.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and programs.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on safety aspects of new process designs and modifications.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to engineers and operational staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related safety field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience specifically in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements , hazard identification techniques, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience with safety integrity level (SIL) assessments and functional safety.
• Strong understanding of relevant safety codes and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills for remote collaboration.
