Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Development Chemist Scale-Up for a hybrid role based in Mahikeng, North West. You will translate laboratory discoveries into scalable chemical manufacturing processes, designing and optimizing processes while ensuring safety and sustainability.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in chemical reaction engineering, scale-up, and data analysis, with experience in process simulation tools and PHAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years in process development, scale-up and optimization in the chemical industry, preferably specialty chemicals.
• Experience with process simulation software and PHAs/safety principles.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize chemical processes and scale-up from lab to pilot plant.
• Use simulation tools to evaluate designs and predict performance.
• Conduct PHAs and implement safety improvements.
• Collaborate with R&D to enable technology transfer.
• Develop SOPs, batch records, and process documentation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
