Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Production Chemist for its client in Mahikeng, North West. You will oversee and optimize chemical processes, ensuring product quality, efficiency and safety across production operations.

The position requires strong background in industrial chemistry, process control and QA, with experience in laboratory analysis and process improvements. A hybrid work model is offered to balance on-site production with remote analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred
• Minimum 5 years in industrial chemistry or production chemical processes
• Strong knowledge of chemical principles, reaction kinetics, and process control
• Experience with analytical techniques (GC, HPLC, spectroscopy)
• Proficiency in quality management systems and principles
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations in chemical industry
• Experience in Oil & Gas or petrochemical sector is a plus

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze chemical processes to ensure optimal performance and product quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve chemical process issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste and costs
• Conduct laboratory analysis to support production processes and quality control
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations related to chemical handling
• Collaborate with operations, engineering and quality teams to meet production targets
• Assist in scale-up and implementation of new chemical processes or products
• Maintain detailed records of process data, analyses and improvement initiatives
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior chemists and operators
• Stay updated on advancements in chemical technology and production methodologies
