Job summary

Placements24 in Paarl, South Africa, is seeking a Senior Process Chemist to join their chemical development team. This role focuses on scaling up processes from laboratory to pilot plant and into commercial production, optimizing reaction conditions, and ensuring process safety.

You will work with engineers and production teams to develop robust manufacturing methods, document batches, and support technology transfer, leveraging expertise in organic chemistry, kinetics, and analytical methods

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master's degree with a focus on process chemistry.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical process development and scale-up.
• Strong understanding of organic chemistry, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles and hazard analysis.
• Proficiency with analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and spectroscopy.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale up chemical synthesis processes for manufacturing.
• Conduct process safety assessments and implement necessary controls to ensure safe operations.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues encountered during process development and scale-up.
• Characterize intermediates and final products using appropriate analytical techniques.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to ensure smooth technology transfer.
• Prepare detailed process documentation, including batch records and validation reports.
