Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - Mechanical for Data Centers based in Centurion, South Africa, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement. The role leads technical delivery, quality assurance and interdisciplinary coordination across local and global teams.

The candidate will act as a senior technical resource, provide design reviews, develop high‑quality outputs and mentor the team while managing budgets and client expectations. Registration with ECSA is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science or Engineering from an accredited university.
• 12+ years’ experience within the built environment after undergraduate.
• Professionally registered as an Engineer with ECSA.
• Experience in HVAC, Wet Services & Fire is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as a senior technical resource and technical advisor for the team.
• Plan works, provide technical reviews and quality management.
• Lead design development with hands‑on design when required.
• Mentor and develop team members and monitor timekeeping and performance.
