Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Powertrain & Drivetrain Engineer in Sandton, Gauteng. You will lead design, development, testing, and integration of powertrain systems for next-generation vehicles, driving performance, efficiency, and sustainability.

Role requires extensive powertrain expertise and leadership to mentor junior engineers, collaborate across disciplines, and ensure regulatory compliance in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Extensive experience in automotive powertrain design, development, and testing.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE, Adams and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience in R&D environments; Sandton/Gauteng experience preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design and development of automotive powertrain and drivetrain components, including engines, transmissions, electric drive units, and differentials.
• Conduct performance simulations, analyses, and validation testing for new and existing powertrain systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of powertrain and drivetrain components.
• Develop technical specifications and requirements for powertrain and drivetrain systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering issues related to performance, efficiency, emissions, and durability.
• Manage supplier relationships and ensure component quality and timely delivery.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in electrification, hybrid powertrains, and advanced combustion engines.
• Contribute to IP development and technical documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence.
• Ensure compliance with automotive standards and regulations.
