Job summary

Network Recruitment in South Africa seeks a skilled PLC Maintenance Technician to install, configure, and maintain PLC-based control systems in industrial environments.

You will diagnose faults, modify PLC programs, perform preventative maintenance, support commissioning, read schematics, and ensure safety and quality procedures. This role requires a National Diploma or equivalent and extensive hands-on PLC experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, or Mitsubishi.

Qualifications

• Typically holds a National Diploma or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Instrumentation, or related field.
• Extensive hands-on PLC experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, water, or utilities environments.
• Hands-on experience with PLC platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, or similar.
• Knowledge of SCADA, HMI, VSDs, instrumentation, and industrial communication networks.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain PLC-based control systems.
• Diagnose and repair faults in PLC hardware, software, instrumentation, and control circuits.
• Modify and update PLC programs to improve performance and reliability.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
• Assist with commissioning and start-up of new equipment and production systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Conduct system testing, calibration, and performance verification.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance personnel as required.
