Job summary

Communicate Finance in South Africa seeks a skilled Automation Engineer to develop and modify PLC programs for industrial systems, perform on-site commissioning and start-up, and diagnose faults to keep plants running smoothly. You will integrate PLCs with SCADA, instrumentation, and field devices, and provide technical support to ensure reliable operation.

A relevant electrical, mechatronics or automation qualification is required, with PLC certifications advantageous.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related field.
• PLC programming certifications will be advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and optimise PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
• Carry out on-site commissioning, testing, and start-up of control systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve PLC, HMI, and automation-related faults.
• Integrate PLCs with SCADA systems, instrumentation, and other field devices.
• Provide technical support and ensure systems operate efficiently and reliably.
