Job summary

Our client, a progressive construction firm in Cape Town, seeks a qualified Construction/Civil Planner with 5+ years in large-scale projects. Proficiency in CCS Candy, Primavera P6 and advanced Excel is essential, with the ability to interpret drawings, scope of work and BOQ to build realistic schedules.

The role requires on-site/off-site flexibility, strong reporting skills, and a solid understanding of JBCC extension of time claims. You'll contribute to on-site planning and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Construction/Civil Engineering or related field.
• Experience in planning large-scale construction projects, preferably on site.
• Experience using CCS Candy and Primavera software; advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop realistic project schedules from scope of work, drawings and Bills of Quantities.
• Measure end value and define quantifiable activities and sequence of tasks.
• Interpret JBCC contract implications for extensions of time and impacts on schedule.
• Prepare progress reports and communicate planning status, risks and mitigations.
• Contribute to on-site planning activities and interface with construction teams.

Please note this is an intensive planning role and the relevant experience in large scale construction/structural projects is essential, as well as proven expertise using CCS Candy and Primavera 6.

• You will have a Tertiary qualification in Construction/Civil Engineering, coupled with 5+ years’ experience in Project Planning of large scale building and construction projects, preferably on site.
• You will have an understanding and proven experience in interpreting the scope of work, drawings and Bill of Quantities to develop a realistic schedule per project.
• You will have proven experience in CCS Candy, as well as advanced Excel and Primavera software.
• You will have experience in measuring “end value” and developing quantifiable activities per schedule and formulating chain of activities and responsibilities to reach the deliverable.
• You will have extensive knowledge and experience in JBCC contract interpretations with regards to “extension of time claims” and methodologies for analysis of impacts on the schedule.
• You will have above average interpersonal skills, good report writing skills and be flexible to work both in office and on site.
• Your problem solving, proven planning and numerical expertise will secure.
