Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Engineer in Upington, Northern Cape to design, optimize, and troubleshoot pharmaceutical manufacturing processes under GMP. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement and the chance to lead cross-functional initiatives in a growing facility.

The ideal candidate has a Master’s or PhD in chemical/process engineering, 5+ years in pharma/biotech, and proven skills in process design, scale-up, validation, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemical/Process Engineering or related.
• Minimum 5 years in pharma/biotech process engineering, Upington preferred.
• GMP knowledge and pharmaceutical operations experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
• Experience with process simulation software and statistics is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
• Legal right to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and implementation of new pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
• Optimize existing processes for yield, efficiency, and cost.
• Troubleshoot process issues and implement effective solutions.
• Ensure GMP, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Develop and execute process validation protocols/reports.
• Collaborate with R&D, QA, and Operations for tech transfer and scale-up.
• Generate process documentation: SOPs, batch records, and reports.
• Evaluate new technologies and equipment for process improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
