Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Quality Control Analyst to join our client’s laboratory in Soweto, Gauteng. The role focuses on analytical testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure GMP compliance and regulatory standards.

You will utilize HPLC, GC, and other techniques, calibrate lab equipment, and contribute to method validation and audits. A Bachelor’s in a related field with 4+ years of QC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in pharmaceutical quality control with hands-on analytical testing.
• Proficiency with analytical instruments, especially HPLC and GC.
• Solid understanding of GMP, USP/BP guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication for documentation.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with LIMS is a plus.
• Willingness to work on-site full-time in Soweto.

Responsibilities

• Perform analytical tests on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and wet chemistry.
• Analyze results against specifications and document findings accurately.
• Investigate OOS results and identify root causes, recommending corrective actions.
• Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
• Prepare analytical methods and validation protocols, and execute method validation studies.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks and records in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare certificates of analysis (CoAs) for released products.
• Participate in internal and external audits as required.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and laboratory best practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Control laboratory.
