Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences with a Petroleum Geology specialization.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in petroleum exploration geology with emphasis on structural and stratigraphic analysis.
• Proficient in geological software such as Petrel, GeoGraphix and Kingdom Suite.
• Extensive seismic interpretation and well-log analysis experience.
• Ability to communicate geological concepts clearly within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Lead geological interpretation of seismic data, well logs and core samples to delineate reservoirs.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration and development opportunities.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Petroleum Geologist to join their exploration and production team based in Durban. This role is fundamental to identifying and evaluating new hydrocarbon prospects, contributing significantly to the company's exploration strategy and future success in the Oil & Gas industry. You will work closely with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to build integrated subsurface models and assess the geological risk and potential of exploration targets. As this is an on-site position, you will benefit from direct collaboration and access to state-of-the-art facilities in the vibrant coastal city of Durban.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the geological interpretation of seismic data, well logs, and core samples to delineate hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration and development opportunities, including structural and stratigraphic interpretations.
• Perform detailed risk assessments and uncertainty analyses for prospective exploration plays and development projects.
• Collaborate with geophysicists to integrate seismic attributes and geological interpretations for prospect generation.
• Contribute to the planning and execution of exploration and appraisal drilling programs, providing geological oversight.
• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in petroleum geoscience and contribute to their adoption.

Requirements
