Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Petroleum Geologist to join our exploration and development team in Mahikeng. The role centers on interpreting geological and geophysical data, constructing robust subsurface models, and guiding prospect evaluation and drilling targets.

You will collaborate with reservoir engineers, geophysicists, and management to assess prospectivity, quantify resources, communicate findings through technical reports, and support joint venture partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Petroleum Geology, or a related earth science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in petroleum geology, focusing on exploration and asset evaluation.
• Proficiency in Petrel and GeoGraphix and seismic interpretation tools.
• Strong understanding of basin analysis, depositional systems, sequence stratigraphy, and structural geology.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to present complex geological concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Interpret seismic, well log, core, and outcrop data to characterize subsurface geological formations and identify potential hydrocarbon traps.
• Develop and refine geological models, including structural and stratigraphic frameworks, to support exploration and field development.
