Senior Payroll Administrator
Responsibilities
- Coordinate payroll activities, including payroll processing, ensuring appropriate levels of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Ensure compliance with appropriate legislation, regulations, and the National Bargaining Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry (NBCRFLI).
- Coordinate and prepare payments for all statutory and non‑statutory deductions and contributions at month‑end, such as:
Garnishees
Medical Aid
Provident Fund
- Process leave applications and escalation any sick leave or absenteeism concerns to the Group Payroll Manager.
- Provide payroll advice, guidance, and support to the Group.
- Assist external auditors with annual auditing of the payroll system.
- Produce ad hoc reports, including:
Payroll processing reports
Leave reports
Overtime reports
Monthly journals
Month‑end reports
- Assist with the monthly submission and reconciliation to the NBCRFLI.
- Support the Wages Department with processing of monthly and weekly wages.
- Process terminations and onboarding of new staff on a monthly basis, managing a high volume of terminations and new appointments.
Interpersonal Skills and Experience
- Experience leading and coordinating a payroll function within a large‑scale organization.
- Ensure and maintain high levels of quality and accuracy in data entry.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive payroll‑related matters.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team with people from various cultural backgrounds.

NBCRFLI Main Collective Agreement
Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA)
Wholesale and Retail Sector regulations
Unemployment Act
- Minimum of 5 years of experience using the Sage HR Premier system.
