Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Research Chemist in Organic Synthesis to lead the R&D program in Paarl. You will design and execute complex synthetic routes, optimize conditions, and push projects from lab scale toward pilot production in a fast-moving research environment.

The role requires a PhD in Organic Chemistry with 6+ years of experience and strong proficiency in NMR/MS characterization, chromatography, and thorough scientific documentation.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry required.
• Demonstrated expertise in a wide range of organic reactions and synthetic techniques.
• Strong proficiency with spectroscopic structure elucidation (NMR, MS).

Responsibilities

• Design and execute multi-step synthetic strategies to access complex organic molecules.
• Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and scalability of synthetic routes.
• Perform thorough characterization of synthesized compounds using NMR, MS, HPLC, and other analytical techniques.
• Troubleshoot challenging synthetic problems and develop innovative solutions.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in synthetic organic chemistry literature and methodologies.
• Collaborate with other scientists and engineers to advance research projects from laboratory scale to potential pilot production.
