Job summary

QE Services IT Recruitment is seeking an Oracle PL/SQL Developer for a contract position in Bellville, near Cape Town. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining high-quality software solutions in an IT/Finance context.

The candidate will work with Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle Forms, RESTful APIs and CI/CD practices while mentoring junior developers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 3-year tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong experience with Oracle PL/SQL and Oracle Forms.
• Solid database development experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• Experience with XML, SOAP, WCF and RESTful APIs.
• Proficiency in HTML5, Angular, JavaScript, jQuery and JSON.
• Experience with PHP, Message Queues and database development.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git and AWS Web Services.
• Exposure to Agile methodologies, CI/CD and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and support high-quality software solutions.
• Develop solutions that align with business strategies and requirements.
• Improve existing systems and optimise code for performance and innovation.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex applications and identify root causes.
• Mentor and guide junior developers.
• Facilitate technical design sessions and promote development best practices.
• Provide technical input into test plans and support accurate unit testing and automation.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts and IT Operations.
• Document technical requirements, processes and solutions for knowledge sharing.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and cross-functional team discussions.
• Identify opportunities for system and process improvements.
• Implement innovative technology solutions.
• Act as a SME in relevant technology forums.
• Support continuous improvement across the software delivery function.
