Responsibilities

• Designing and developing complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Supporting application teams with SQL query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Creating and maintaining database objects (tables, indexes, views, synonyms).
• Collaborating with business analysts to interpret requirements and translate them into technical specs.
• Performing impact analysis and assisting with production support and incident resolution.
• Supporting ETL processes, data integration, and batch job execution.

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Developer to support our enterprise clients in building, maintaining, and optimizing robust database solutions within high-volume transactional systems.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, complex environment, collaborating with business and technical teams to deliver mission-critical Oracle database development and support.

Job family: Financial Systems/Database Development/ Core Applications

Minimum Experience:

• 5+ years Oracle PL/SQL development experience
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data modelling principles
• Experience working in enterprise-grade, high-transaction environments.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field
• Oracle certifications are advantageous.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities may vary depending on the engagement but typically include:

• Designing and developing complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers
• Supporting application teams with SQL query optimisation and performance tuning
• Creating and maintaining database objects (tables, indexes, views, synonyms)
• Collaborating with business analysts to interpret functional requirements and convert them into technical specifications.
• Performing impact analysis and assisting with production support and incident resolution
• Supporting ETL processes, data integration, and batch job execution
• Implementing and enforcing data quality, security, and compliance controls
• Producing technical documentation and supporting handover to support teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

• Expertise in Oracle Database (preferably versions 12c, 19c, or higher)
• Proficiency in PL/SQL development, debugging, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of indexing, partitioning, and query execution plans
• Experience with Oracle performance tools (e.g. AWR, SQL Trace, TKProf)
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux shell scripting for job automation
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and source control tools (e.g. Git, Bitbucket)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries is advantageous.
