Placements24 seeks a Senior Operations Geologist to join its field operations team in Randburg, Gauteng. The role provides real-time geological support during drilling to ensure wells are drilled safely and efficiently in line with geological objectives.

The successful candidate will interpret well logs and formation data, advise on casing points and mud weights, and communicate geological information to the drilling crew.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences required.
• 6+ years of experience in operations geology in Oil & Gas.
• Experience with real-time wellsite supervision and formation evaluation.
• Strong drilling, wellbore, and formation damage knowledge.

Responsabilidades

• Provide real-time geological supervision during drilling operations.
• Interpret logs, core data, and formation evaluation results to update geological models.
• Monitor drilling parameters and lithological data to identify hazards and opportunities.

About the Role

Our client, an established energy producer in the Oil & Gas sector, is seeking a Senior Operations Geologist to join their field operations team in Randburg, Gauteng . This vital role involves providing real-time geological support during drilling operations, ensuring wells are drilled safely and efficiently according to geological objectives. You will be responsible for making critical geological decisions at the rig site, interpreting formation data, and communicating geological information effectively to the drilling team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience in operational geology, a strong understanding of drilling processes, and excellent problem‑solving abilities in dynamic field environments. • Proficiency in interpreting various well logs (resistivity, porosity, gamma-ray, etc.).
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision‑making skills under pressure.
• Familiarity with geological software for well correlation and data management.
• Ability to work irregular hours and adapt to changing operational demands.
• Experience with unconventional plays is a plus.
