Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Administrator to oversee and secure the group’s network infrastructure in Richards Bay. You will design, implement, and maintain LAN/WAN, monitor performance, and support uninterrupted operations across all departments.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in network administration, strong TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing and switching, plus knowledge of network security. CCNA/CCNP certifications are highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in network administration and support.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing, and switching.
  • Experience with network security principles and technologies.
  • CCNA/CCNP Certifications are desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage LAN, WAN, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ensure security through firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades and hardware replacements.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator to oversee and manage their critical network infrastructure in Richards Bay. You will be responsible for network design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, working closely with IT teams to support business objectives. The ideal candidate has a strong background in network architecture, protocols, and security, with a proactive approach to network management and optimization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot network problems, implementing timely resolutions.
  • Ensure the security of the network infrastructure through firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and hardware replacements.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior network staff and other IT personnel.
