Qualifications

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer with a focus on Infrastructure Security to join their robust IT operations team in Soweto . This critical role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, reliable, and high-performance network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of network systems, protecting them against evolving cyber threats. Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain secure network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Implement and manage network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Monitor network performance and security, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and maintenance activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers.
• Stay current with emerging network security technologies and threats, recommending and implementing appropriate solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering , with a strong emphasis on network security .
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
• Hands-on experience with firewall management, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Security, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
