Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Network Administrator to manage Upington's enterprise network. You will install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and access points to ensure secure, reliable connectivity across the organization.

The role requires 3+ years in network administration, proficiency with TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs, and familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or SolarWinds. Certifications such as CCNA or Network+ are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of enterprise network administration experience.
• CCNA, Network+ or Security+ certifications desirable.
• Experience with Cisco/Juniper/HP hardware and VPNs is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points).
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues promptly.
• Implement and manage network security measures (VPNs, IDS/IPS, access controls).
• Develop and maintain network diagrams, configurations, and SOPs.
• Plan and execute network upgrades to support growth and tech evolution.
• Provide technical support for network-related issues to end-users and IT staff.

About the Role

This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and performance of the company's network systems. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of network hardware and software. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, identifying and resolving problems promptly.
• Implement and manage network security measures, including VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and changes to support business growth and technology evolution.
• Provide technical support for network-related issues to end-users and IT staff.

Requirements

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in network administration, focusing on enterprise environments.
• Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs) and network hardware from vendors like Cisco, Juniper, or HP.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, Network+, or Security+ are highly desirable.
