Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment is seeking a senior hands-on engineer in Johannesburg to design, build and support enterprise applications across the front end, API and database layers. You will guide others, own production deployments and raise engineering standards.

You will design and develop enterprise web apps using C#, .NET and Angular, build REST APIs, optimise SQL Server databases and mentor junior developers in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of professional software development experience.
• 7+ years with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
• Strong experience with Angular and TypeScript.
• Solid HTML/CSS and responsive design skills.
• Strong SQL Server and T-SQL experience.
• Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience integrating multiple internal and external systems.
• Understanding authentication, authorization and secure development.
• Experience with Git-based workflows.
• Proven ability to diagnose and support production applications.
• Working knowledge of automated testing and code quality practices.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Mentoring and leading technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop enterprise web applications using C#, .NET and Angular.
• Build and maintain REST APIs and system integrations.
• Design and optimise SQL Server databases, queries and stored procedures.
• Turn complex business requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Write clean, responsive front-end components with Angular and TypeScript.
• Investigate and resolve defects across the front end, API and database.
• Lead architecture and design discussions.
• Perform code reviews and raise engineering standards.
• Mentor junior and intermediate developers.
• Support testing, deployment, monitoring and production operations.
• Spot technical debt, risks and improvement opportunities early.
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, testers, infrastructure teams and the business.
• Produce clear technical documentation that others can actually use.
