Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Nanotechnology Engineer to join our Richards Bay R&D team in KwaZulu-Natal. You will design, fabricate, and characterize nanoscale devices and materials, leading projects that push the boundaries of nanotechnology.

The role requires a PhD in a related field with 6+ years of experience, expertise in nanofabrication and advanced characterization techniques, and the ability to mentor staff.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in nanotechnology or related field with 6+ years of nanotech development experience.
• Proven expertise in nanofabrication and characterization methods.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor/solid-state physics or surface science.
• Experience with cleanroom operations and micro/nanofabrication processes.
• Ability to lead complex R&D projects and work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the research, development, and implementation of nanotech products and processes.
• Design and fabricate nanoscale materials and devices using lithography, self-assembly, and chemical synthesis.
• Characterize nanomaterials using AFM, SEM, and TEM.
• Develop and optimize deposition and manipulation of nanomaterials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions.
• Document findings in detailed technical reports and contribute to IP.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians.
