Qualifications

• PhD required in a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant research experience in nanotechnology fabrication and characterization.
• Hands-on expertise in nanofabrication techniques (e.g., photolithography, electron beam lithography, CVD, ALD).
• Proficiency with advanced characterization tools for nanoscale analysis.
• Strong understanding of the physics and chemistry underpinning nanomaterials.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving and meticulous experimental approach.
• Strong written and verbal communication for reporting and teamwork.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple research tasks.
• Experience in an industrial R&D setting is preferred for Upington, Northern Cape.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel nanomaterials and nanodevices using state-of-the-art fabrication techniques.
• Operate and maintain advanced nanotechnology equipment, including lithography tools, deposition systems, and microscopy.
• Characterize nanomaterials and devices using SEM, TEM, AFM, XRD, and spectroscopy.
• Develop and implement experimental protocols for synthesis and manipulation of nanoscale structures.
• Analyze experimental data and interpret results to guide further research and development.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers to achieve project goals.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges in fabrication and characterization processes.
• Contribute to writing technical reports, research papers, and patent applications.
• Stay abreast of latest advancements in nanotechnology and related fields.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols in a nanotech lab in Upington, Northern Cape.
